Connie Post served as the first Poet Laureate of Livermore, Ca from 2005-2009.

 

It has been her pleasure to be involved in poetry in and around the community. During her term, she created two popular reading series, “Wine and Words” and “Ravenswood” in Livermore. She also created a youth poetry critique group. She has written six collections of poetry. Her first two poetry books are about the journey of raising a son with autism.  Her next book “Trip Wires” is due in mid 2010 from Finishing Line Press.

 

Her work has appeared several national print journals including ; Calyx, Kalliope, Comstock Review, Cold Mountain Review,  Main Street Rag, Iodine Poetry Journal, White Pelican Review, Oberon, Monterey Poetry Review, and the Toronto Quarterly.  

 

She was the keynote speaker in Sacramento in March 2007 at the California Association of Program Specialists conference. She presents regularly at her local community college on the subject of autism and the real life experiences of autism.

 

She will continue to offer her poetry and life experiences to reach out to the world and raise awareness about autism.
